The Deputy CEO of Sailors’ Society, Ms Sandra Welch, visited the Auckland International Seafarers Centre on 10 September.
Based in Southampton, UK, Ms Welch has particular responsibility for the society’s programmes including the Crisis Response Network and the Wellness at Sea programmes. She was visiting NZ for discussions with the International Sailors’ Society New Zealand (ISSNZ) and was hosted in Auckland by the Sailors’ Society Auckland, a partner body in the Seafarers Centre.
At the Centre she met Captain Chris Barradale, the Centre Board’s Chairman and chairman of the local Mission to Seafarers group and a number of volunteers. Auckland Councillor Mike Lee, a supporter of the centre and himself a former seafarer, joined for the visit.
